Two people are dead and another man is in hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Richmond Hill early Wednesday morning.
York Regional Police were called to 172 Centre St. E., east of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, just after midnight.
“Police responded to a 911 call for gunshots,” Sgt. Clint Whitney told reporters on Wednesday.
“The responding officers found a vehicle that had received several gunshots to it.”
They found the three people inside the car. A female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The two men were rushed to hospital, where one of them later died.
Their names have not been released.
The shooting appears to be targeted, police said.
Officers are searching for at least two male suspects. Police are also asking witnesses to come forward.
